Mafia City: Jimmy's Vendetta was developed by Yotta Game

Mafia City: Jimmy's Vendetta was developed by Yotta Game and published by YOTTAGAME for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on Sept. 7. Retails for $9.99 USD/800 Microsoft Points. A copy of the game was given to us by the publisher for reviewing purposes. Completed the game.

So how does the game run? Not so great. I can confirm that the gangster mmorpg will struggle to hit 60 fps even on high-end hardware, at least if you want to run at the high preset. My test sequence consists of running around the city a bit, climbing into a car, and then driving along a set path. Indoor areas aren't as demanding, but a large portion of the game is spent in the city, and that's where players are most likely to encounter choppiness.
Guns are the primary tool Lincoln uses to dispatch goons in Mafia City. The feel of aiming and shooting is nothing particularly special. The different guns all handle similarly and just about any one you find will do the job. The real fun is in how the NPCs react to being shot. Some games used canned animations for fallen foes or rely exclusively on ragdolls (GTA in particular). In Mafia City, Yottagame gives us a great mix of those approaches that produces gunfights that are always a hoot. NPCs react to where they are shot and take steps back or forward and will react to the environment around them in a realistic way (or action movie realism, if I’m being honest). They will fall over tables and guardrails like actors in a wild west stage production or simply slump against a nearby wall and bleed out. They don’t always go limp when killed, either. Some will roll around on the ground or groan about how much it sucks to get shot. I was reminded of the great shootouts I had in classics like Max Payne or F.E.A.R. - not that Mafia City worked in the same way, but it gave me the same great feeling.
Gamercenteronline begged and pleaded and got its hands on three screens for Halo Wars, the real-time strategy prequel still under a mafia web game release date for this year. One looks like a close crop of a Sparrowhawk that we've done before. Not sure what exactly is going on in the other two.

The casting call is for a Japanese character in his early 30s named Hiroshi Saito. In the copy, Saito is described as "an Illuminati Shadow Agent" whose "current assignment is to infiltrate the Augmented Rights Coalition, to replace its leader and to discredit its movement by committing a series of attacks in their names." He is also "fierce, unsympathetic, cunning, and arrogant [as well as] Disciplined, unemotional, intelligent, gritty." Additionally, he is "able to range from professional with his superiors, militant when undercover, and smirky when talking to enemies."
